INVESTIGATING AND RESOLVING COMPLAINTS OF WORKPLACE HARASSMENT

 

Progressive organizations are implementing policies to provide employees with a workplace free of harassment. Training internal staff to conduct appropriate and fair investigations into these complaints is an essential part of the success of any workplace harassment policy.

 

This program is a must for the people in your organization - human resources, employee relations, union officials or other staff - who investigate complaints of workplace harassment.

 

During this intensive program, participants will work through an actual investigation, from initial complaint to a finding and final report. Participants will learn:

  • Roles and responsibilities of investigators and decision-makers
     
  • The legal framework for an internal investigation
     
  • How to develop and implement your investigation plan using principles of due process
     
  • Conducting interviews and assessing credibility
     
  • Weighing, analyzing and documenting evidence using the appropriate legal standard and burden of proof to reach findings consistent with a Human Rights Commission
      
  • Resolving the complaint and restoring the workplace to health
